The Industry Plan

Third Plan 2001 - 2005

The Third Plan followed the same pro-active commitment towards the environment and the same proven principles and methods of measurement. The objectives of the Third Plan are;

  • Target at least 74% national newsprint recycling rate by December 2005
  • Achieve a collection rate by the Newsprint Producer / Publisher Group of 250,000 tonnes per annum by 2005

Again these targets are ambitious and are world class recycling rates. It should be noted that this target of 74% recovery is subject to the continued current use of old newspapers and magazines by other existing recyclers such as those in the cardboard, insulation and pulp moulding industries.
